Ignacio Ortínez Barcelona / Bangkok

Ignacio Ortínez has more than twenty years of professional experience in landscape architecture and landscape contracting. He worked for nine years with landscape and general engineering contractors in Northern California and for 11 years as a landscape architect with landscape architecture and planning studios in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 2007, he established the estudioOCA office in Barcelona. He is now leading the new estudioOCA office in Bangkok.

Ignacio’s professional design work has allowed him to participate in projects and competitions worldwide, including California and elsewhere in the United States and Europe. These projects include: public works, hotels/resorts, parks, riverfronts, housing, hospitals, terraces and private residences.

His combined background in landscape architecture, entomology and horticulture has had a strong professional influence in his work. The applied ecology is a fundamental part in the conception of his projects: the way they are defined and shaped, the materials used, and the selection of plants that are best suited to the place and their relations to architecture and landscape architecture.
