This project was funded by the Urban Program 2007-2012 of the European Union for the creation of a large park at the urban edge, in the west of the city that will serve as a renovation stimulus for the city and more specifically to the less favoured neighbourhoods of Santa Anna and Beniopa . In this context it is intended to create a large green lung in the city of Gandia, hoping to act as a dynamic element of this urban peripheral area.
This proposal comes as the result of the enthusiasm and effort of a multidisciplinary international group of professionals, from diverse backgrounds, landscape architects, architects, civil engineers, forestry engineers and environmental engineers, that after a detailed study and assessment of the scope of action, have led a number of proposals, grouped in various interventions on the field of study. The objectives in the short to medium term of this intervention are:
-Promote the conservation of this area as suburban enclaves and natural restoration ecological corridors in the area of green outskirts of Gandia, creating a continuous natural corridor around the city.
-Recondition suburban areas to promote the public use them in helping to meet the demand for leisure outdoors while absorbing the pressure on other fragile natural areas.
-Capitalizing on the recovery and conditioning of this space to promote public awareness and environmental education with the attempt to involve citizens in conservation.
