The All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) campuses are an initiative of India’s Prime Minister. The project consists of three 100 hectare medical campuses, located in Guntur, Kalyani and Nagpur with state of the art medical and teaching facilities, campus housing, and recreational opportunities.
estudioOCA developed sustainability master plans for the sites, integrating stormwater management, water reuse and recycling, green streets that provide for fully-shaded pedestrian and bicycle routes that also retain and filter stormwater. The plans work to enhance the existing site features, taking full advantage of natural systems.
The master plan provided for pedestrian and bicycle connectivity throughout the sites, while also allowing for the heavy vehicular demand required for patients and visitors, maintenance and facilities operations, and emergency access.
